Strange worlds: 10 exoplanets discovered by Nasa

Discovered in 2011, Kepler-70b (also known as KOI-55) could easily be described as a circle of hell, according to Nasa. With temperatures soaring higher than the surface of the Sun, this planet endures a scorching average of around 12,000 degrees Fahrenheit (6,800 degrees Celsius). Once a gas giant the size of Jupiter, Kepler-70b was engulfed by its now-dead star—a journey that obliterates most planets. Under such extreme heat, the planet is slowly evaporating, doomed to vanish entirely in the near future. (Photo: Nasa)
