Babar Azam receives ‘non-serious’ advice during National Assembly session | The Express Tribune


Babar Azam was named during a National Assembly session in Islamabad as a Pakistan Peoples Party lawmaker gave advise to the Pakistan cricket team captain.

PPP Member of National Assembly Abdul Qadir Patel, during an NA session on Saturday, appeared to be advising the national cricket team captain on how to avoid criticism.

Following disappointing performances on the field, Pakistan cricket team faced an early exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Babar Captain Azam has been facing of criticism from all quarters with many fans, supporters, former players and social media users offering their own advise.

Patel advised Babar to ‘declare that a conspiracy has been plotted against him, write a letter, and then declare that the letter has been misplaced, as it would save him.’

His remarks were alluding to the cipher case involving Imran Khan, the jailed founding leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Abdul Qadir Patel clarified his statement, saying it was made in jest and should not be taken seriously.

Earlier, the session of the National Assembly commenced under the presidency of Speaker Ayaz Sadiq

Members of the Pakistan People’s Party ended their boycott of the session, increasing their strength in the assembly.
