A British man’s giant root vegetable, a “celeriac”, weighing 13 pounds has broken a Guinness World Record.

The man named Graham Barratt, a resident of Gloucester took his giant vegetable to the Malvern Autumn Show and on Thursday (September 26) received confirmation that his root vegetable now holds the world record for the heaviest celeriac, UPI reports.

“It’s either weight or length for a giant veg, but it’s not beauty. Some of them are quite ugly,” Barratt stated jokingly in an interview with BBC Radio.

Interestingly, Barratt could have also taken home the record for the second heaviest vegetable as he took a giant cucumber — among other humongous vegetables — that could have earned him the record to the Malvern Autumn Show.

“I weighed it today, and it weighed at 29 pounds. The world record is 30 pounds,” he said. “That’s just how cruel the business is at times”.

The Malvern Autumn Show, held in Gloucestershire, allowed people to take part in various activities including the great Malvern cake off, the grow zone, the RHS flower show, the world of animals, a family fun section, a harvest activity, a vintage valley and nurseries and bulb merchants were also present during the show.

The visitors could also buy gifts, clothes, plants, food, arts and crafts as well as antique and retro items.
