The star-studded wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant not only featured global celebrities, business tycoons, and politicians, but an array of gastronomical delights.
A video from the July 12 wedding of industrialist Mukesh Ambani and philanthropist Nita Ambani’s youngest son Anant with pharmaceutical heiress Radhika shows multiple food counters with placards as guests enjoy the mouth-watering spread. The name cards on some of the counters read Odette, II Borro and Bukhara.
According to several media reports, the lavish spread offered a blend of traditional Indian delicacies and exotic global cuisines. From creamy rabri, refreshing lassi, to extravagant treats like caviar served atop tiramisu, the menu was every food lover’s dream.
Rameshwaram Café’s butter, ghee and garlic dosa as well as Anant’s favourite Pesarattu – a green gram dosa originating in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka’s famous Thatte Idli, a selection of puran poli varieties served with a Spicy Usal Vada were also on offer.
The event also featured a wide selection of chaats, made by teams flown in from Varanasi to ensure authentic taste. Top chefs such as the team behind the world’s best restaurant – Central in Peru — and Goan food maestro like Chef Avinash Martins also prepared a selection of signature dishes.
Anant and Radhika’s marriage on Friday culminated months of pre-wedding events.
The attendees included Bollywood icons Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Ranbir Kapoor; cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav. Former British Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Boris Johnson; and Saudi Aramco CEO Amin H Nasser were also on the guest list. Politicians who attended the wedding included Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, his deputies Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, his wife Dimple and Shiv Sena (UBT) head Uddhav Thackeray.
Shankaracharya of Dwarka Peeth Swami Sadananda Saraswati and Shankaracharya of Jyotirmath Swami Avimukteshwaranand also attended the event.
